OPRL+, 2024

Accompanied by two performers, Lara Barsacq draws inspiration from some major works written for the Ballets Russes between 1909 and 1929, thus paying homage to one of the significant periods in the history of dance. In this production accompanied by the OPRL-Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, the choreographer also alludes to a muse from the past who nourished her and who remains a constant source of inspiration: Ida Rubinstein, the adored muse of Léon Bakst, scenographer and costume designer of the Ballets Russes. Her evocation infuses the performance with energy and audacity; a hymn to emancipated bodies, women and freedom.

At the invitation of Théâtre de Liège, Lara Barsacq directed Le fabuleux destin des Ballets russes with the OPRL-Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, a program composed of major works from the history of dance and the Ballets Russes. The premiere series took place on February 2 and 3, 2024 in Liège (Salle Philharmonique), in the frame of Pays de Danses festival.
